Since ties are expensive, especially the real silk ones, this can be a costly extra if your groom doesn't like whatever ties are included with his tux rental. To try and find something special enough to be my honey's signature item without going crazy over our nonexistent tie budget, I turned to eBay. This post is more smart shopping than do it yourself, but it's budget saving regardless, so again, without further ado, I present:
Do It Yourself Project #2: The Grooms Tie
Company: eBay, specifically Landisun.
Coupon: None
Cost: 100% silk tie, handkerchief, and cufflinks ($9.99), shipping ($7.90)
Total Cost for Groom's Tie Set: $17.89
Landisun, as well as other companies on eBay, offer a huge variety of ties and tie sets in all different colors. There are so many that for the most part there's almost no competition between bidders and you can get your tie for the starting price. Without having even seen the rental options, my honey fell absolutely in love with this tie.
The tie set arrives, tucked into a teeny tiny bag.
The tie is really really gorgeous, the silk is soft and supple and its plenty long.
The color and pattern are perfect, it comes off brighter in the photographs because of the flash but it's a necessity with the yellow lighting in my dining room.
Handkerchief that matches perfect for his suit pocket, obviously from the same fabric and dye lot.
Adorable silver cufflinks with matching silk faces, they really pop against a dark suit!
Nice, high quality silver cufflink structure, they hold their shape perfectly and stay in place.
So for under $20.00 my honey gets a fantastic tie set to wear for the wedding, he gets his color blue and I get my vintage inspired print. Everyone is happy!
