Day 5: Mature Morulas

We got a call this morning saying that our embryos were still plugging along, growing well, but weren't quite ready for biopsy. When the embryologist checked on them in the morning they were super mature morulas, right at the end of the morula stage and the beginning of the blastocyst stage.

Ideally, we want the embryos to be nice, expanded blastocysts before they're biopsied so you can get a really clear distinction between what will be baby and what will be placenta so Dr. D and the embryologist have opted to let them grow another day. It occurred to me after the phone call that we also did our retrieval a lot later this time, several hours later than our first one, so these embryos are actually a little younger on day 5. They might have been nice blasts if they were checked in the evening instead of the morning so I'm staying positive and not getting discouraged.

I'm also pretty sure that if they were going to arrest they would have done so already, but I'm not ready to celebrate just yet. They still need to clear this last hurdle though I'm really optimistic now that they can do it. Grow embies, grow!
